OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

(WHAT WE BELIEVE)

As a body of believers, we will teach and promote the following biblical principles. We acknowledge that people are at different places in their walk with Christ; and as a result, application of these principles will vary. We believe in spiritual unity in spite of different applications.

We renounce the demonic spirits of rebellion, immorality, all ungodliness, and the spirit of religion.

  • The Bible and the Revelation of God

    • We believe that God has revealed Himself in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, the inspired Word of God, and supremely in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. (II Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 1:1-2)

    • We believe the Word of God, coupled with the corresponding guidance of the Holy Spirit, to be our rule to live by. We believe Jesus is the answer to all of life’s problems. (II Timothy 3:16–17, John 16:13, Matthew 11:28–30, John 14:6)

  • The Nature of God

    • We believe in one God eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:16, 1 John 5:7)

  • Creation and Humanity

    • We believe that in the beginning God created all things by His Son. He made humanity in His divine image, male and female, with free will, moral character, and a spiritual nature. (Hebrews 1:1-2; Genesis 1:1, 27)

    • We believe that man fell into sin, bringing depravity and death upon humanity; that as a sinner, man is self-centered and self-willed, unwilling and unable to break with sin. (Genesis 3:1-19, Ephesians 2:1-3)

  • Salvation through Jesus Christ

    • We believe that there is one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who died to redeem us from sin and arose for our justification. (I Timothy 2:5, Romans 5:1)

    • We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Christ, a free gift bestowed by God on those who repent and believe. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

  • The Work of the Holy Spirit

    • We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, affects the new birth, gives guidance in life, equips for service through spiritual gifting, and enables perseverance in faith and holiness. (John 16:7-15, Galatians 5:22-23)

  • The Church and Its Mission

    • We believe that the church is the body of Christ, the brotherhood of the redeemed, a disciplined people obedient to the Word of God, and a fellowship of love, intercession, and healing. (I Corinthians 3:16, Ephesians 2:11-22, I Peter 2:9)

    • We believe that Christ commissioned the church to go into all of the world, making disciples of all the nations, and ministering to every human need. (Matthew 28:19-20)

    • We believe it is the will of God that there should be ministers to teach the Word, to serve as leaders, to lead the church in the exercise of discipline, and to serve as pastors and teachers. We also affirm that elders are appointed to provide godly oversight, leadership, and administration within the church. (Titus 1:5-9, I Timothy 3:1-13, Hebrews 13:17)

  • Ordinances of the Church

    • We believe that those who repent and believe are called to be baptized as a public expression of cleansing from sin and commitment to Christ. (Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:38-41)

    • We believe that the church should observe the communion of the Lord’s Supper as a symbol of His broken body and shed blood, and of the fellowship of His church, until His return. (I Corinthians 11:20-34)

  • Marriage and Family

    • We believe that Christian marriage is intended by God to be the union of one man and one woman for life, and that Christians should seek Christ-centered unity in marriage. We believe that God has created a headship order within marriage in which man submits to Christ and leads with a servant’s heart, and woman submits to the leadership and protection of her husband. (Mark 10:2-12, I Corinthians 7:39, I Corinthians 11:1-16)

  • Christian Living

    • We believe that Christians are called to a holy lifestyle, not conformed to the world, but should seek to conform to Christ in every area of life. (Romans 12:1-2)

    • We believe that Christians will live a life of integrity, being open and transparent, ever speaking the truth. (Matthew 5:33-37)

    • We believe that it is the will of God for Christians to pursue peace and refrain from violence in human relations, showing Christian love to all. (Matthew 5:38-40, John 18:36)

  • Government and Society

    • We believe that the state is ordained of God to maintain order in society, and that Christians should honor rulers, be subject to authorities, witness to the state, and pray for governments. (Romans 13:1-7, I Timothy 2:1-3, Acts 5:29)

  • Stewardship and Generosity

    • We believe that everything belongs to God, who calls us to live as generous and faithful stewards of all that God has entrusted to us. (II Corinthians 8:1-15)

  • The Sanctity of Life

    • We believe that human life begins at conception, that all life is sacred, and it should not be destroyed. (Genesis 1:27, Psalm 139:13)

  • The Return of Christ and Eternity

    • We believe that at death the unsaved enter into everlasting punishment and the saved into conscious bliss with Christ, who is coming again, and will raise the dead, sit in judgment, and bring in God’s everlasting kingdom. (Matthew 25:31-46, II Corinthians 10:1-10)

THE LIGHTHOUSE STORY

A brief history and background

Lighthouse Ministry began in 2001 with a simple Backyard Bible School aimed at reaching local children before they faced life’s hardest challenges. What started as a small outreach quickly grew into a vibrant community ministry and, eventually, a church dedicated to sharing God’s love through teaching, service, and connection. Today, Lighthouse continues to shine hope in Abbeville, building faith and relationships that transform lives.

Lighthouse Ministries was founded as a children’s outreach and continues to welcome believers from diverse church backgrounds without requiring formal membership. Instead, belonging is defined by a shared faith in Jesus Christ, commitment to His Word and Spirit, and participation in ministry. Those who consider Lighthouse their church home are encouraged to identify with the body and serve after a season of involvement and understanding of its mission
